NOTICE OF AMHERST COUNTY

DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS

The Amherst County Democratic Committee hereby announces that it will hold an assembled caucus beginning at 7:30 PM on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Amherst County Public Library, 200 River James Shopping Center, Madison Heights, VA for the purpose of electing 10 delegates and 2 alternates to the 6th Congressional District Democratic Convention (May 19^th, Lexington, VA) and the 2012 Virginia Democratic State Convention (June 2^nd, Fairfax, VA).

Any person wishing to seek election as a delegate or alternate must file with David Burford, Chair of the Amherst County Democratic Committee, 178 Trents Landing Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572, no later than 5:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18, 2012. A voluntary administrative fee of $10.00 (which may be waived) will be collected at the time of filing for those wishing to be elected as delegate or alternate, a $5.00 for the 6^th Congressional District Convention, and a $10 fee for the 2012 Virginia Democratic State Convention.

There is no charge for those wishing to attend and vote at the caucus.

Doors to the caucus will open at 6:30 PM for check-in. Any person attending the caucus, before participating in such caucus, shall sign a standardized Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and is a registered voter in Amherst County. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to participating in the caucus. At 7:30 PM the doors to the caucus will be closed and no person may complete a form and participate in the caucus after that time, with the exception of those persons in line at 7:30 PM.

If only one person files for each delegate and alternate position, the caucus will be canceled. In this event the Chair will publicly announce the cancellation, proclaim the individuals properly filed as the duly nominated delegates and alternates, and so advise those individuals.

Saturday, March 3, 3:00 – 5:00 PM - Town Hall meeting with Andrew Schmookler in the Community Meeting Room of the Lynchburg Public Library, 2315 Memorial Avenue. There is ample free parking outside the entrance of the Community Meeting Room. Come out and talk with the man who is going to defeat Bob Goodlatte in the November election.

Saturday, March 3, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM - The Central Virginia Voters League will sponsor a Unity Rally in support of Voters Rights and Women’s Rights at the foot of Monument Terrace on Church Street in downtown Lynchburg. Be there and speak out for your rights. We cannot afford to go backwards.

Wednesday, March 21, 10:30 AM – Noon - Warner on Your Corner. Representatives of Senator Mark Warner will be available to meet with individual Virginians who have specific issues dealing with federal agencies. These meetings will take place in the Lynchburg Law Library located in City Hall, 900 Church Street in downtown Lynchburg.

With only 8 weeks ’til Election Day, Amherst Democrats have only ONE JOB to do … and that’s to elect Bert Dodson

We will dedicate the entire evening to Bert’s campaign staff. They will seek our advice on some community-based operations we can put into place to help assure a Democratic Victory.

There is simply no other choice.

Bert will be a great State Senator, one we’ll be proud to call our own. We all know that. But there’s more…

The very narrow majority we now have in the VA Senate mustbe held. It’s the only thing protecting us now from a statewide Right-Wing majority – House of Delegates, State Senate, and Governor. We must not let this happen.

Imagine the likes of McDonnell, Cuccinelli, Cantor, and others of their ilk in the Party formerly known as Republican, running amok, unchecked, in our great Commonwealth. Well, you get the picture.
